Monday 9/21 is an out-of-uniform day. Please send $1-$2 if your child is out of uniform.
Friday 9/25 there is no school! Teachers have staff development.
Morning Work: Copying a sentence from the board; correcting mistakes. Focus: DIALOG! Review of every sentence starts with a capital letter AND every sentence ends with a punctuation. Introducing use of said, " ---."
Geography is part of morning work. We have a new map every week. You can find this week's focus on the Geography Page. This week's focus is Using Directions.
Religion: Chapter 4: God Our Father is Holy
Superkids: We are starting 1st Grade work THIS week! Last week we dipped a toe in the waters of our spelling routines. Mondays we have Spelling Pre-Tests, and we have re-takes on Fridays for those who did not achieve an A the first time. You can find the Spelling Words for the week here. Children will have Spelling Homework every night. Please check the planner, sign off in your child's assignments, and help them take responsibility for putting it back into their BLUE folder to turn in.
You should make verbal spelling practice a daily habit at home to strengthen your child's spelling skills. You can also give them practice spelling tests, which I have found very helpful.
Math: Ordinals and Problem Solving. Please check the planner, sign off in your child's assignments, and help them take responsibility for putting it back into their BLUE folder to turn in.
I do not give written homework on weekends, but your child is expected to read their Library book every day. I recommend 2-3 AR tests per week.
Your child can also complete i-ready lessons at home. I recommend1 lesson of math and 1 lesson of reading per day. If your child wishes to work on i-Ready at home, please allow them to work independently. The system meets them where they are, and each child has their own tailored learning path. Want to see what your child has been doing on i-Ready? Click on My Progress once they have logged in to see their recent completed lessons!
